Description
I painted ‘Nautilus’ when I was living in Koh Samui, Thailand, where I spent 4 months painting in 2007. With this canvas I was just becoming comfortable working in oils, enough to begin exploring subtle differences, like wet and dry sand, and overlaying soap bubbles. The nautilus is a fascinating theme for me as a pure symbol of math in nature. My own logo, that I have adapted as my signature on my paintings, is a mix of a nautilus shell and a ram’s horn.
